About Family and Consumer Sciences

The focus of Family and Consumer Sciences is to enhance the skills and knowledge that will promote the well-being of individuals, families and communities.  Our programs and profession focus on individuals and families in order to achieve an optimum balance between people and their environments.  The mission of Family and Consumer Sciences is to empower individuals and families to function interdependently in a global society. 

Family and Consumer Sciences at CSUS offers students selections of academic programs which lead to exciting and challenging careers and leadership opportunities in business, education, government and public service.  Students in the department of Family and Consumer Sciences enjoy the following:

Challenging courses and programs that integrate curricula from the areas of family and consumer sciences, the social and natural sciences and the arts

Quality undergraduate education that incorporates critical and analytical thinking, communication techniques, new technology, and problem solving skills to deal with emerging regional, national and global issues facing individuals, families and communities.

Opportunities to interact with instructors, other students, and professionals from many career fields in family and consumer sciences.
