The Art Department offers a wide range of courses in Art Education, Art History (American, Latin American, Native American, Asian, and European), and Studio Art (ceramics, collage, drawing, electronic art, jewelry, metalsmithing, painting, photography, printmaking, and sculpture). These courses serve to engage students in the study of fine arts within a liberal arts context and to promote appreciation of the fine arts in the general student population.

The Department of Design offers programs in Graphic Design, featuring creative
use of multimedia text and imagery, interactive design, and traditional print media;
Interior Design which is recognized for its internship program; and Photography
which combines traditional and nontraditional fine art media with digital photography.

The CSUS Theatre Program is committed to intensive training in the areas of
Performance, Scenography, Puppetry/Youth Theatre, Ethnic Theatre, Film Studies,
Playwriting, Dramatic Literature, History, and Criticism. The curriculum is designed
to offer breadth and depth, and is fully accredited by the National Association of
Schools of Theatre. The faculty and staff offer national and international experience.

The fundamental purpose of the CSUS music curriculum is threefold:
1) to promote excellence in all aspects of music performance and academic course work,
2) to provide basic preparation for careers in music, and
3) to promote interest in all musical and artistic endeavors at the University and
